The film follows a large tribe of the Bakhtiari nomads in the West of Iran, during their yearly journey with all their cattle, to the meadows in the mountains. They suffer a lot of hardships, crossing large desserts and the wild river Karun, and climbing the imposing Zagros mountains, with the snowy peak of Zardeh Kuh as climax.
